Red Chili Peppers Price at Kramat Jati Induk Market Drops

As compared with two days ago, the chili price at Kramat Jati Induk Market, East Jakarta, Thursday (1/9), is decreasing. The stock from various locations also safe.

The chili price could go up or down during Chinese New Year

Supri (49), one of chili sellers at the market, said the price fluctuation is triggered by Chinese New Year celebration and rainy season.

"The chili price could go up or down during Chinese New Year based on the weather and the people's economy," he said.

For the stoke, Supri admitted that it is still safe. There are 2.5 up to three ton chili stock are sent from Banyuwangi, Temanggung, Magelang, Jombang, Wonosobo, Boyolali and others in Central Java.

According to him, the red chili pepper price declines from Rp 90,000/kilogram to Rp 80,000. The curly chili price is still stable at Rp 45,000-50,000/kilogram. Then green cayenne pepper at Rp 40,000, and small green cayenne pepper Rp 60,000.

He predicted that all chili variants price will drop during the harvesting season. But now the production remains drop due to rainy season.

Meanwhile, Rustinah (51), one of the buyers from Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, hopes the chili price remains stable during Chinese New Year.

"Now the chili price starts to drop. Hopefully it will remain stable ahead of Chinese New Year," she hoped.

Based on the data, stock for red curly chili at Induk Market is 17 tons per day, large red chilies six tons, red cayenne pepper 13 tons, and green cayenne pepper six tons.
