Jakarta's Environment Gets Better as Dolphins Appear at Sea

Jakarta Environmental Agency said that the presence of dolphins in the waters of Pramuka Island, Seribu Island, is a momentum that sea environment quality in the area is improving.

It indicates an improvement of the water environment quality

Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto admitted that lately, dolphins have been seen more frequently even in inhabited islands waters.

Asep added the the group of dolphins was recorded by the Samtama 6 Garbage Ship crew in Pramuka Island waters.

Dolphins Appear in the Waters of Pramuka Island

"It indicates an improvement of the water environment quality in the Seribu Island since previously dolphins were seen in on the open sea far from land," he said, Friday (1/10).

Asep continued as a symbol of support for efforts to protect the environment, the presence of dolphins has meaning for environmental cleaning personnel or commonly known as the DLH Troops.

"This is an additional motivation for the entire team. When they were cleaning the waters, dolphins appeared even following our boat," he added.

Asep explained that the appearing of dolphins around the Seribu Islands is a positive sign as dolphins have high sensitivity to environment condition.

"The efforts in improving the sea environment, such as waste management and cleaning the waters, has good result since dolphins will not approach polluted or dangerous waters," he explained.

He hopes public awareness of the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the sea for the sake of existing ecosystem continuation can be increase through this moment. Future generations can enjoy the beauty and natural wealth of the Seribu Island. It is the impact of joint efforts to protect the sea environment.
