Community Work Held in Karet Tengsin Urban Village

As many as 50 joint personnel and local residents conducted community work at residential RW 11 Karet Tengsin Urban Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Sunday (2/16). As the result, 12 cubic meters of mud and waste were transported.

Karet Tengsin Urban Village Head, M Hari Ananda explained the joint personnel came from urban village and sub-district apparatuses, PPSU, Water Resource Taskforce, Bina Marga, Environmental, City Park and Forestry, and Satpol PP. They were assisted by caretakers of RT, RW, FKDM, and local residents.

"They cleaned the water channel and road, and also pruning shady and prone to fall trees," he explained.

He added that the activity was part of inundation and fallen tree mitigation during rainy season.

"It is worried that the mud inside water channel will cause inundation," he added.

He continued that the activity also aimed to educate residents in maintaining environmental cleanliness and alert with disaster after rainy season such as dengue fever and fire.

"Hopefully the residents are able to maintain environmental cleanliness by not throwing garbage carelessly," he continued.

Meanwhile, Karet Tengsin Urban Village Secretary, Puteri Awan stated the activity is routinely held every Sunday in several areas.

"Residents are also involved in the activity," she stated.

RW 11 Karet Tengsin Urban Village Head, Washington said fallen tree and inundation can be minimized through this activity.

"Now the water flows smoothly on the channel. It means also prevent mosquitoes to grow on the channel," he said.
