Various mural decorations beautify the Udara Segar Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA), Batu Ampar, East Jakarta.

As of Tuesday (2/25), six RPTRA caretakers in blue uniforms were seen busy making various mural paintings on the hall's walls, as well as the southern and western walls of this 2,300-square-meter public space.

Udara Segar RPTRA Caretaker, Tulus Riani said the arrangements were made to provide residents with comfort while waiting for bedug (Indonesian traditional drums used to mark victory over the long day of fasting) during Ramadhan.

"That's why we beautify the park with various murals. The themes are about education, Betawi culture, flora and fauna," he expressed.

He was sure residents would be happy and would feel at home while waiting for the time to break their fast. Moreover, there were many selfie spots and also a gate made of dead trees that are recycled into decorations.

They also repainted several areas that were starting to look dull and replaced dead or wilted plants with new ones to make them look fresh and green.

To smoothen it, his party collaborated with the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, Indraprasta PGRI University (UNINDRA), especially for the mural design.

This Udara Segar RPTRA has many facilities, ranging from hall, lactation room, amphitheater, library, futsal field, urban farming area, children's play facilities, etc.

"Every day, there are 100 to 200 visitors and the number can be higher on weekends," he explained.

One of the residents, Naila (16), admitted every day she and her friends often visit the park and read books in the library.

"The atmosphere is nice, comfortable, and cool enough to make you want to stay here for a long time," she said.
