Blood Donation at North Jakarta Mayor's Office Targeting 2,500 Donors

Hundreds of civil servants (ASN), PJLP, PKK cadres, PPSU, Water Resources (SDA) personnel, Bina Marga personnel, Satpol PP personnel, and residents took part in a blood donation held at Babussalam Mosque's Courtyard, North Jakarta, on Thursday (4/10).

Through a collaboration between Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and North Jakarta Government, this event was officially opened by Mayor Ali Maulana. After donating their blood, participants received staple food packages from the committee.

North Jakarta PMI Head, Nurhasanudin conveyed that the event, which was organized as halal bihalal and humanitarian blood donation event is held from Apr il 8 to 12, from 9 AM to 4 PM.

"Blood donation is held because based on annual data, blood stocks decrease after long Eid holiday. Therefore, we are organizing large-scale blood donor," he explained.

His side targeted to collect 500 blood bags per day, aiming a total of 2,500 blood bags over the five days. These blood bags will tested first at Jakarta PMI Headquarters and then transferred to North Jakarta PMI Blood Bank.

In this event, his side partnered with North Jakarta Health Agency and a number of public and private hospitals, Baznas Bazis, and CSR. These partners are involved to provide free health checks and medical treatment for the participants.

"Donors can also get free health checks during the event," he added.

Amel (35), one of the participants shared that she has donated blood regularly for 10 times. Besides helping others, she feels that donating blood has made her body feel healthier.

"I've donated blood 10 times. I always feel fit and rarely get sick," she expressed.
