City to Launch 267 Red and White Urban Village Cooperatives

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung stated this program had been listed in the Jakarta Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD). He had also instructed all of his staff to prepare and fully support it.
The statement above was conveyed by him at the Acceleration of the Establishment of Red and White Urban Village/Urban Cooperatives event in Jakarta at Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (5/21).

He targeted that 267 village cooperatives in Jakarta would be established by July 12 and would start full operations in early October.
There are seven main points that are the focus of the Jakarta Government in the establishment of this cooperative. They are the availability of cooperative offices in each urban village, kiosks for the procurement of basic necessities, savings and loan business units, health clinics, pharmacies, warehousing or cold storage systems, and logistics facilities.
He also reaffirmed his full support for the establishment of village cooperatives throughout the regions in Indonesia, including Jakarta. He was optimistic that the Jakarta Government could implement this program effectively.
He hoped that the village cooperatives being established in all urban villages could become a role model for other regions.
"I am confident that Jakarta is able to realize it as its infrastructure is relatively better compared to the regions," he added.
Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ahmad Riza Patria, stated that the Government targeted the establishment of 80,000 Red and White Urban Village or Suburban Cooperatives across Indonesia. These village cooperatives were planned to be launched by President Prabowo Subianto on July 12.
He added those cooperatives could meet the needs of farmers, fishermen, ranchers, fish breeders, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). They were also expected to distribute agricultural, fishery, livestock, and MSME products from small communities.
"And the President also wants cooperatives to have offices, stores, and clinics, thus village residents in urban village can easily and conveniently seek treatment when they are ill," he added.
According to him, the formation of village cooperatives throughout Indonesia shows the Government's commitment to small communities. This allows the community to be more empowered and positively impacts their welfare.
He was sure that the Jakarta Government could establish and realize village cooperatives in Jakarta. Hopefully, they could provide benefits and meet the needs of all residents of Jakarta.
"Thank you, Governor, for your support and assistance; it is also amazing that it has been included in the RPJMD and other support. I am confident that the Red and White Urban Village Cooperative in Jakarta will become the best cooperative," he closed.
