Pramono Siapkan ERP untuk Subsidi Transportasi Umum ke 15 Golongan

ERP Revenue will Be Used to Subsidize 15 Groups of Society

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, announced his plan to implement Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) in Jakarta. In the future, all revenue from ERP will be allocated for transportation subsidies for 15 groups of society.

One day, but not now

He made the statement during the Leaders Forum: Unlocking Investments For Jakarta’s Transformation to Top #50 Global City by 2030 at Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall yesterday night.

He emphasized that this policy aimed to ensure that the benefits of ERP can be directly felt by the community, especially those who have difficulty accessing affordable public transportation.

City Government Focuses on Transjabodetabek Development

"One day, but not now, I want to implement the ERP. It's okay, pay for all the ERP. Parking, pay all. However, for those who can't afford it, it will be fully the responsibility of the state. And the proceeds from the ERP will be entirely used to provide subsidies to 15 groups," he expressed, Wednesday (5/28).

ERP is also an effort to ovetcome the congestion issues in Jakarta. He assessed,  this issue is mainly caused by the reluctance of the public to switch to public transportation.

Therefore, he stressed the need for a policy that requires the community to use public transportation. The Jakarta Government had implemented a mandatory policy for civil servants to use public transportation every Wednesday.

"They (civil servants) have to use public transportation every Wednesday. What is the result? I know there will be protests, but I made it for free for 15 groups, including civil servants from outside Jakarta," he explained.

Despite it faced protests at the beginning, this policy has shown positive results with a significant increase in public transportation usage by civil servants reaching 98 percent.

He added free services in Transjabodetabek were also applied to 15 groups from Jakarta and outside Jakarta.

Even, the Jakarta Government would expand the reach of public transportation by opening seven new Transjabodetabek routes. This would allow residents from its surrounding areas to have a comfortable and affordable transportation option.
