"Therefore, out of 440 road sections designated for parking, only 244 sections can be implemented for parking on the roadway," he expressed after attending a public hearing meeting with the Special Committee (Pansus) on Parking, Wednesday (6/25).
According to him, the number of road segments as parking locations would continue to be reduced, in line with the highly dynamic traffic management needs.
Residents Appreciate Strict Crackdown on Illegal Parking at Sidewalk of Jalan Kyai TapaDishub also keeps strengthening coordination with various parties to prevent illegal parking. Besides, the approach to area managers was continuously optimized to ensure parking fees are applied following regulations.
"On Jalan Kyai Tapa for instance, there used to be many motorbikes parked on the sidewalk. After we approached them, the parking fee, which was originally Rp 4,000 to 5,000 per day, was reduced to Rp 2,000. This encouraged riders to park inside the campus area," he explained.
His agency had also reviewed a comprehensive adjustment of parking fees, following proposals from the Parking Working Committee members. The adjustment would consider the amount of costs incurred by residents when using private vehicles.
Further, he also urged the public not to park randomly, especially on sidewalks, to maintain traffic order.
"We appreciate all parties who have cooperated in maintaining order in Jakarta. This is for our mutual progress," he said.
