As many as 143 pets owned by residents of Kampung Rawa Urban Village, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, were vaccinated against rabies, Wednesday (7/2).

Central Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Sub-agency Head, Penty Yunesi Pudjiastuti said the vaccination is also held tomorrow, Thursday (7/3).
"Those 143 pets are 135 cats and eight dogs. The vaccination is free of charge," she said.

"We also conduct sterilization from May until July to handle cat population," she added.
Ami (30), one of local residents, appreciated the vaccination program held by the sub-agency. She brought her two cats to get free vaccination.
"I routinely brought my cats to this program," she admitted.
Based on the sub-agency data, there were 2,288 pets have received anti-rabies vaccine durinf January to June 2025. Those pets are 405 dogs, 1,869 cats, 10 monkeys and four weasels.
