"OMC will start from the Bogor as the upstream area, to hold back the increase in water discharge that has the potential to flow into Jakarta. In addition to flooding, Bogor is also prone to landslides," he said, Monday (7/7).

According to him, the rain that poured down in Jakarta yesterday was categorized as heavy to very heavy, near to extreme.

Although BMKG's prediction shows a decrease in rain intensity in the next three days, there were indications of an increase in rain clouds in the South Jakarta and East Jakarta areas on the fourth day.

Isnawa stated that BPBD has told the Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor regarding this operation. It is hoped that the operation can be a mitigation measure to prevent further flooding, especially in areas prone to being affected by river overflows from upstream areas.

"The operation can be started tomorrow, or based on the latest BMKG's prediction," he stated.
