Seven Mobile Pumps Handle Flooding in Tanah Abang Area

Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency deployed seven mobile pumps to handle inundation in Karet Tengsin, Bendungan Hilir, and Petamburan Urban Villages of Tanah Abang District.

Tanah Abang Water Resources Unit Head, Eli Menawan Sari said high rainfall and water discharge from Bogor caused flooding in the residential area of ​​RW 03, Petamburan Urban Village, in front of Mintoharjo Hospital, Bendungan Hilir, and residential areas of seven RWs, Karet Tengsin Urban Village.

"High rainfall and water flow from the upstream caused inundation in the areas," she said, Tuesday (7/8).

She added that seven mobile pumps with a capacity of 250 to 1,000 liters per second were deployed to suck up water in the three locations. Taskforce personnel were also deployed to fix the water lines and add sandbags at several points of the river flow where sheet piles had not been built.

According to her, the inundation in Karet Tengsin and Bendungan Hilir Urban Villages were caused by the overflow of Krukut River.

"Some of the areas passed by the river have no sheet pile. It was easy for the water to overflow to residential and road," she added.
