Pramono Ingin Ubah Lahan Terbengkalai Jadi Ruang Publik di Jakarta

Pramono Wants to Increase Public Space

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung is committed to improve Jakarta. One of his key strategies is increasing open space and transforming abandoned land in the capital into public spaces that benefit the community.

can be used by the public

Pramono said that much of Jakarta's unused land has significant potential for development into green open spaces. He made this statement at the Jakarta Sustainability Forum: Advancing Sustainability for Top 20 Global Cities event at City Hall, Wednesday (7/23).

"We will make abandoned places, of which we have a lot, into spaces that can be used by the public," he said.

He cited examples of how other major cities, such as New York, have successfully transformed abandoned areas into attractive and functional spaces. Meanwhile, in Jakarta itself, Pramono also focuses on city cleanliness and park maintenance.

One of the Jakarta Provincial Government's plans to increase green open space is combining Leuser, Ayodia, and Langsat parks by using non-Regional Budget funds.

The 6.5-hectare park will be equipped with a jogging track and other facilities. Pramono hopes this new facility will provide an alternative exercise option besides the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

Pramono emphasized that development in Jakarta must provide significant benefits to the community. Furthermore, the Governor also recounted another experience from his visit to New York, United States, a few days ago.

During a bilateral meeting with the Mayor of New York, transportation and congestion issues were discussed. This was because Jakarta has fallen out of the top 20 most congested cities in the world, according to a TomTom survey.

"New York is in first or second place. Jakarta was always inside the top 10. Suddenly, Jakarta is outside the top 10 and 20," he stated.
