Central Jakarta City Government Receives 100 Septic Tank Toilets

Central Jakarta City Government, Thursday (7/31), received assistance of 100 septic tank toilets from the Indonesian Agency for the Acceleration of Poverty Alleviation.

"I'm not hiding the fact that in Central Jakarta, there are still homes without toilets and septic tanks. Hopefully, this isn't the first time, but we can continue to collaborate to help those in need," said Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin.

According to Arifin, his side remains committed to improve environmental quality in Central Jakarta so that residents no longer dispose of household waste directly into water channels.

"This is run so that the quality of life of residents in Central Jakarta becomes healthier, stronger and more prosperous," he added.

Novrizal Tahar, Deputy for Capacity Acceleration and Access Empowerment at the Indonesian Agency for the Acceleration of Poverty Alleviation, said that the government is currently committed to resolving the issue of poverty.

"We are targeting the eradication of extreme poverty by 2026. And by 2029, it will be at 4.5 percent, or even lower," he said.

He explained that one of the fundamental problems of poverty is sanitation infrastructure, which is closely related to public health.

"If community life quality is not good, it will automatically cause the problem of poverty to increase," he continued.

His side provides support in the form of toilets and septic tanks to improve the quality of health for residents in Central Jakarta.

"Hopefully the target of Open Defecation Free Zero in Central Jakarta will be achieved faster and the residents will be more prosperous," he hoped.
