Flood in Parts of East Jakarta Gradually Recedes

The flood caused by heavy rain in the upstream area and several parts of East Jakarta on Monday morning (8/4) has gradually subsided.

East Jakarta BPBD Regional Coordinator Task Force Head, Ali Kojim explained that until 8 AM, the remaining floods are in 12 neighborhood units spread across Cililitan, Cawang, Kampung Melayu, and Bidara Cina urban villages.

"At 7 AM, the flood still inundates 16 RTs and has now gradually receded completely in some locations," he expressed, Tuesday (8/5).

He detailed that the flooding in Bidara Cina occurred in four RTs with 35 to 55 centimeters high, followed by four RTs in Kampung Melayu with 50 centimeters high.

"It is also still seen in five RTs in Cawang, with 45 to 50 centimeters high. In Cililitan, there are three RTs with 80 centimeters high," he explained.

He explained, 45 personnel were deployed to handle and monitor the flood in collaboration with the Water Resources Agency, Bina Marga Agency, and Fire and Rescue Agency.

"We are making maximum efforts to quickly reduce the flood. Residents must remain vigilant as there have been recent weather anomalies," he explained.

Bidara Cina Urban Village Head, Suhartono added, the flood caused by the overflow of Ciliwung is gradually receding.

Flooding occurred on Jalan Baiduri Bulan, RT 12/03 and RT 06/11 starting at 3 AM with 30 centimeters high.

"At 9 AM, the water had already started to recede to a height of about 15 centimeters," he added.

He added, at 3 AM, the water on Jalan Tanjung Lengkong Gang Macan RW 07 had also receded from 60 centimeters to 35 centimeters.

"We sent eight personnel to ensure the channel is clean from trash," he stated.

Kampung Melayu Urban Village Head, Angga Harjuno Rakasiwi said, the floodwaters were beginning to recede on Jalan Kebon Pala II, RT 04, 12, and 13/RW 04, as well as RT 05, 10 and 11/RW 05.

"Water used to reach about 75 centimeters, but it has now started to recede and remains around 30 to 35 centimeters. No residents have evacuated so far," he closed.
