Walkota Jaksel Pastikan Relokasi Pedagang Barito Dilakukan Humanis

South Jakarta Mayor Ensures Barito Traders Relocation will Be Humane

South Jakarta Mayor, M Anwar, ensures the relocation of Barito Market traders is carried out using persuasive and humane methods. The government has provided comprehensive facilities, from repeated socialization and transportation to temporary business premises in 11 markets owned by PD Pasar Jaya.

doesn't mean we're ignoring the traders

"The traders are relocated to 11 markets owned by PD Pasar Jaya while waiting the market construction in Lenteng Agung. They can choose it. Then we'll prepare the transportation," said Anwar, Tuesday (8/5).

Anwar explained that of the 118 traders at Barito Market, nearly 100, or the majority, have voluntarily expressed their willingness to relocate. Only a small number remain undecided, as the relocation will be carried out in stages.

City Council Prepares Budget for Market Construction in Lenteng Agung

"Specifically for the 96 (JS traders) on the left, they will be relocated later," he added.

The construction of the Bendera Pusaka Park, which is the reason for the relocation, is part of an integration of several city parks namely Ayodya Park, Langsat Park, and Leuser Park. This area is planned as an ASEAN Park, an international-scale green open space.

"This is the Governor's program. We could say it's a core program, even an international one. But that doesn't mean we're ignoring the traders. In fact, we're paying close attention to their plight," he continued.

As a form of commitment, Anwar stated, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing to build a permanent market in Lenteng Agung on 7,700 square meters of land. This market will be intended for traders and MSMEs and will also include offices for the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and the Fire Agency.

The Lenteng Agung market construction is targeted for completion within three to six months. This project will not use regional budget funds, but will be funded through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme.

"Traders to be relocated will be strictly verified. They must have Jakarta ID card," he stated.

Anwar said that his rank had taken various approaches, including picking up traders at the relocation location and signing a joint agreement.

"It has been socialized, the announcement has been posted, and there has even been an agreement to vacate the site on August 3, 2025. But later it changed," he said.

Anwar emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government has no intention of causing hardship to its residents. In fact, all facilities have been prepared to ensure the relocation process runs smoothly and orderly.
