Council Supports Ragunan Zoo Revitalization

Jakarta City Council's Commission D Member, Ali Lubis supports the Jakarta Provincial Government's plan in revitalizing Ragunan Zoo.

Commission D says the same

"I agree the Ragunan Zoo revitalization by the Jakarta Provincial Government. Commission D says the same," he said, Friday (8/15).

According to him, Ragunan Zoo has great potential as a contributor to revenue for the Jakarta Regional Budget.

Besides being an icon of cheap entertainment for the public, this zoo also plays an important role as an educational media for children and students to learn about various animals.

Ali also welcomed the plan to build a multi-storey parking facility to address land constraints in the area.

"This is good, just like in Japan. Parking space in Ragunan is limited," he added.

Moreover, he also supports the discourse of implementing different entrance fees for Jakarta residents and visitors from outside the area, including foreign tourists, as part of efforts to improve the management of Ragunan.

Ali reminded that the use of CSR funds, which are one of the sources of financing outside the regional budget (APBD), in revitalizing Ragunan Zoo must be managed transparently.
