Infrastructure Readiness Becomes the Key to Ragunan Zoo Operating Until the Evening

Jakarta City Council Vice Chairman, Basri Baco said that infrastructure readiness is the main factor if Ragunan Zoo (TMR) is to be opened until the evening.

He also supports the plan, just as Taman Safari in Cisarua, Bogor, has done.

"Services and facilities must be improved, thus this zoo can become a better tourist destination," he expressed, Monday (8/25).

According to him, the opening of Ragunan Zoo at night must go through thorough studies by the Jakarta Government, particularly the Technical Management Unit (UPT) for Ragunan Zoo. Aspects to consider include supervision, lighting, supporting infrastructure, and risk mitigation.

"It would be better to use consulting services to conduct an in-depth study. Don't let you spend a lot of money on infrastructure only to have the operations run briefly because the concept is not right. The key to success lies in professionalism, digitalization, and modernization," he explained.

Baco also reminded that this zoo is a valuable asset of the Jakarta Government that must continue to maintain affordable admission prices, especially for the lower middle class.

"Because ticket prices can't be increased, the Ragunan management is required to innovate and be creative. They must be able to collaborate with the private sector and the community to hold various events at Ragunan. In this way, income is not solely dependent on ticket sales," he closed.
