Market Digitalization Eases Transactions and Enhances Security

Jakarta City Council Deputy Chairman, Basri Baco assessed market digitalization is a crucial step in modernizing the trading system, particularly through the implementation of transactions based on the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS).

According to him, the use of QRIS in markets can help both traders and buyers because transactions are safer, more transparent, and reduce the risk of fund leakage.

"Digitization is crucial. The goal is to minimize cash transactions. Cash leakage can be avoided by this way. Meanwhile, the buying and selling process will be more transparent and secure," he said, Monday (8/25).

Baco also added that the market digitalization program is part of a major effort to make Jakarta a top 50 global city by 2030.

In addition to digitalization, he welcomed the planned revitalization of traditional markets in Jakarta. He believes the improved facilities will enhance public shopping experience.

He also supported revitalization involving the private sector through a Business to Business (B2B) scheme by not burdening the regional budget.

"With the limitations of the regional budget, collaboration with the private sector could be a solution. Markets can still be revitalized without draining the budget, while the private sector still earns a reasonable profit," he stated.
