City Government Repairs Public Facilities Damaged by Demonstrations

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung highlighted the numerous public facilities damaged by recent demonstrations. He stated that Jakarta Provincial Government will immediately repair the damaged public facilities.

"We will repair them soon," he said, Thursday (8/28).

Pramono emphasized that repairing public facilities is the Jakarta Provincial Government's responsibility.

"It still becomes our responsibility to repair and clean up the area even though the Jakarta Government was not there when the incident happened," he added.

Pramono then appreciated the Jakarta Environmental Agency's performance to quickly clean up the garbage after the demonstration.

"It only took one to two hours to clean up the area," he continued.

As reported earlier, Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency, will cooperate with the Police to investigate the alleged destruction of CCTV cameras by irresponsible individuals during a demonstration in the Pejompongan area, Monday (8/25).

Head of Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency, Budi Awaludin said acts of destruction of public facilities cannot be justified in any form.

"We respect citizens' right to express their opinions publicly as part of democracy. However, this freedom must be accompanied by a sense of responsibility," he said.
