Smoke-free Regulation Plan Focuses on Regulating Special Smoking Areas

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung emphasized the commitment of Jakarta Provincial Government to protect Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) on Smoke-Free Areas (KTR).

The regulation manages the places

According to Pramono, the MSMEs activities should not be disrupted by the regulation draft. That is the main principle. He explained that the regulations in this policy will focus on closed locations or facilities for smoking at event venues.

"The regulation should not disturb the MSMEs. The regulation manages the places. Public may not allowed to smoke inside the room. But we can not prohibit the selling," said Pramono, Monday (9/29).

Smoke-free Regulation Draft to Complete This Month

He emphasized that owners of public facilities must provide special areas for smoking in closed areas.

"As the example, the karaoke owners must provide a closed smoking area. But public are not allowed to smoke inside the karaoke room," he added.

The provision of special facilities for smoking aims to ensure that smoking activities do not disturb other people.

"All facilities that allow or hold events must provide a closed smoking area," Pramono emphasized.
