Senen Station Water Channel Dredging to Complete October

The dredging of water channel along 546 meters on Jalan Stasiun Pasar Senen worked by Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency since September 27 is targeted to complete in the end of October.

The dredging reaches 192 meters or 35.16 percent

Senen District's Water Resources Unit Head, Zulfahmi explained the draining of the 80-centimeter-high, 100-meter-wide channel is run since the mud had already reached 40 centimeters, reducing its water capacity.

He added that 11 personnel are deployed every day to work the dredging.

"The dredging reaches 192 meters or 35.16 percent," he explained, Wednesday (10/1).

According to him, the dredging is run to follow up the urban village report related to inundation around the channel during heavy rain.

"We're optimistic that the dredging will return the channel capacity to overcome inundation," he added.

Meanwhile, Ardono (37), one of traders at Senen Market, appreciated the sub-agency for dredging the channel.

"The water flows smoothly after being dredged although it is not over yet," he admitted.
