Full Moon Phenomenon: Coastal Residents of Jakarta Urged to Beware of Flooding

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has urged residents living in coastal areas to be alert to coastal flooding or locally known as rob, from October 8 to 15, 2025.

Contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 call center

BMKG's Tanjung Priok Class I Maritime Meteorological Station informs of a phenomenon of high tides coinciding with the Full Moon and Perigee phases, which has the potential to increase the maximum sea level, resulting in coastal flooding or rob in the northern Jakarta coastal area.

"Residents living in the northern coastal areas of Jakarta, such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok, and Seribu Islands are urged to anticipate the effects of maximum sea tide, which has the potential to cause coastal flooding or tidal flooding," expressed Jakarta BPBD's Executing Head, Isnawa Adji, Wednesday (10/8).
