Fire Burns a House in Pengadegan, One Died

A fire gutted a house on Jalan Pengadegan Timur Raya, Pengadegan Urban Village, Pancoran Sub-district.

It was triggered by an electrical short-circuit in the house

South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat) Head, Syamsul Huda said, he received a report of a fire that had grown larger on Sunday (10/12) night, around 8:38 PM.

"We immediately sent 10 fire engines and 47 firefighters to the scene to contain the fire so it wouldn't spread to the densely populated area," he expressed, Monday (10/13).

According to him, the house fire, approximately 30 square meters in size, was successfully contained at 8:51 PM, followed by cooling operations until the operation was declared complete at 10:05 PM.

In this incident, one adult was injured and an 11-year-old child died.

"It was triggered by an electrical short-circuit in the house," he added.

One of the residents, Eta admitted she heard the residents' screams informing about the fire. Then residents immediately tried to extinguish the growing flames, but there were several explosions from the electrical installations.

"We had tried to help extinguish the fire but failed. Finally, the firefighters arrived and quickly put out the fire," she stated.
