Bapemperda Completes Regional Regulation Draft on Education Implementation

The Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) of the Jakarta City Council has completed the finalization of the Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) on the Implementation of Education, which had previously been discussed at the Special Committee (Pansus) level for six months.

provincial government should fund

Chairman of Jakarta City Council's Bapemperda, Abdul Aziz said his party added a number of suggestions to improve the substance of the regulation.

"Today, Bapemperda together with all members have finalized the education implementation Raperda," he said, Friday (10/17).

Aziz ensured that the finalized draft is ready to be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the harmonization process.

"After harmonization, it will return to the city council to inform what has been harmonized, what has been reduced, what has been added, and that will become the final draft that will be ratified in the plenary session later," he explained.

He hopes that this draft will become a legal basis for the implementation of free education in accordance with the aspirations of Jakarta residents.

According to Aziz, the draft has stipulated free education from Kindergarten (TK) to Senior High School (SLTA), exceeding the provisions of the Constitutional Court (MK) which only require free education for nine years.

"So, it is 13 years in total. The provincial government should fund everything, of course, within its capabilities. We hope it can be 100 percent, but we'll see what happens. If it's not possible now, it will be run in stages," he added.

He also asked the regional government to immediately disseminate this Regional Regulation after it is passed so that its implementation runs optimally.

"Hopefully, there is nothing that the Ministry of Home Affairs needs to reject, so that everything can be implemented in accordance with the aspirations of the community," he hoped.
