Free Anti-Rabies Vaccines Given to 209 Pets in Pasar Minggu

As many as 209 pets in Pasar Minggu Urban Village, Pasar Minggu District, South Jakarta have received free anti-rabies vaccines through a mobile service.

Head of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Section for South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency, Irawaty Harry Artharini said the free anti-rabies vaccines held in three different locations targeted pets namely dogs, cats, monkeys, and weasels.

"Our personnel gave vaccines to 209 pets during November 10-12," she said, Thursday (11/13).

She explained that 36 pets were given vaccination on the first day of activity at RW 03 Resident Hall. Then 90 pets on the second day at RW 07, and 83 pets on the third day at RW 05.

Those pets were 175 cats, 29 dogs, three monkeys and two weasels.

"Anti-rabies vaccination activity will remain to be held to maintain Jakarta as a free-rabies city," she said.

Meanwhile, Renita, a local resident, admitted her cat received free anti-rabies vaccination. 

"The activity helps me much since I have more than one cat," she admitted.
