Residents Evacuated as Floodwaters Inundate Jalan Pondok Karya

Residents of the Polri Complex on Jalan Pondok Karya, RW 04, Pela Mampang, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, were quickly evacuated as floodwaters inundated the neighborhood.

Pela Mampang Urban Village Head, Teuku Aji Mahbrurry, informed that 80-centimeter-high floodwaters hit the area due to heavy rainfall and the overflowing Mampang River.

"According to reports from South Jakarta BPBD, water began entering Jalan Pondok Karya around 1 PM, initially reaching 40 centimeters in height," he stated on Tuesday (11/18).

Teuku explained that the evacuation efforts are now underway in coordination with the police, who have deployed personnel and rubber boats to the location.

Once the floodwaters recede, he added, PPSU personnel will be assigned to clean the post-flood mud.

"We are closely monitoring the situation, assessing residents' needs, and prioritizing the swift evacuation of those requiring higher ground," he mentioned.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta BPBD Platoon Commander Nur said that personnel have also been deployed to flood-prone areas and evacuation equipment has been prepared for residents in need.

"We're co ordinating with other units for temporary evacuation. The Polri Complex on Jalan Pondok Karya is currently one of the heavily affected areas, so we're carrying out evacuations immediately," he asserted.
