700 Kilograms of Melons Harvested at Cilangkap Agro Tourism

A total of 700 kilograms of Golden Alisha melons were successfully harvested at the Cilangkap Agro Tourism, Cipayung, East Jakarta. The harvesting was led by Head of Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Agency, Hasudungan Sidabalok.

Hasudungan said that the melons cultivated at the Green House Cilangkap Agro Tourism are of very good quality.

"This melon is sweet and has a good texture. The fruit is also large, making it highly marketable," he said, Friday (11/28).

According to him, the agency's Seed Development Center (Pusbangnih) UPT does have great potential in horticultural development in Jakarta.

"This potential will continue to be identified so that it can be developed optimally to strengthen regional food security," he added.

Agency's Head of Seed Development Center, Hendra Junianto explained those 700 kilogram of melon were harvested from 500 trees.

"The harvested melon is sold to the local community, marketed through social media at a price of Rp 15 thousand per kilogram, and also distributed to partner supermarkets," he explained.

According to him, the harvested Golden Alisha melon has a sweetness level of 14 brix, which is considered very good.

"Melon cultivation at Cilangkap Agro Tourism is also part of the program to fulfill nutrition and strengthen urban farming in Jakarta," he added.
