Jakarta Govt Delivers Aid for Disaster Victims in Sumatra

Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno officially sent off humanitarian aid for disaster victims in Sumatra from the Military Sealift Command (Kolinlamil) on Jalan Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok, Koja, North Jakarta. The aid was transported aboard KRI dr. Soeharso-990 to Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"Jakarta is ready to send more aid if needed,"

Rano stated that he was given a mandate by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to send aid to the disaster victims in those regions.

According to him, the aid delivery was coordinated with regional agencies (OPD), BUMD, PMI, Baznas Bazis, and Basarnas.

"Today, along with Jakarta Council (DPRD), we are here to send aid to our brothers and sisters in Sumatra. God willing, some of the aid will be sent today with Kolinlamil," he stated on Sunday (11/30).

Rano explained that the assistance also reflects Jakarta residents' concern and readiness to support those affected in various parts of Sumatra.

"Jakarta is ready to send more aid if needed . Hopefully, this aid can help ease the burden on the victims and support the recovery process in the affected areas," he added.

Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali informed that three ships departed from Jakarta today: KRI dr. Soeharso-990, KRI Teluk Gilimanuk-53, and KRI Semarang-594. Another ship from Surabaya, KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992, will follow.

"These ships will be divided among destinations such as Lhokseumawe, Nias, Sibolga, and Langsa. In addition, KRI Sutedi Senaputra-378 from Belawan, North Sumatra, is already on its way to Lhokseumawe, Aceh," he mentioned.

He said the ships are carrying logistics, food, heavy equipment, and rubber boats. Additionally, five Navy helicopters are on board the vessels to support aerial surveillance, quick evacuation, and direct aid delivery to isolated locations.

"We are also sending medical personnel and Marine Corps engineers to assist with evacuation, support survivors, and help with rehabilitation. I hope our presence and the aid provided can ease their burden," he shared.

The aid provided by the Jakarta Provincial Government includes 1,000 kidswear packages, 1,000 family kits, 1,000 clothing packages, 1,000 boxes of mineral water, 1,000 blankets, and 1,000 folding mattresses and pillows.

In addition, regional-owned enterprises (BUMDs) donated basic necessities including rice, sugar, cooking oil, flour, along with religious items, water tanks, and clean water sensors.
