500 Blue Troop Personnel Deployed to Tidal Flood-Prone Areas

North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency has deployed hundreds of personnel to minimize the impact of tidal flooding in several flood-prone areas from December 4 to 6, 2025.

"... task force teams are on standby 24/7 to protect residents and minimize the impact of tidal flooding,"

North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Heria Suwandi, said that according to a time forecast report, the water level along Jakarta's coastal areas on Friday (12/5) is estimated to reach around +260 cm mPP.

Suwandi shared that his team has ramped up both structural and non-structural efforts, such as embankment construction and repair, river and channel dredging, ensuring pump readiness, and deploying personnel.

"This tidal flooding hit several coastal areas such as Kamal, Muara Angke, Sunda Kelapa, RE Martadinata, and Blencong Marunda. The tide peaked around 9 AM, but quickly recided due to its short duration," he explained on Thursday (12/4).

According to him, in facing this recurring issue, the regional and central governments continue to advance mitigation embankment construction in Muara Angke and the Mandala Bahari Pier area, as well as NCICD embankment work in Muara Karang and Ancol, including sealing leaks in the Ancol River sheet pile and reinforcing the northern side.

"We are also optimizing the water system, including dredging Muara Angke Reservoir, building diversion channels, draining and constructing a crossing channel from Jalan Pluit Karang Ayu to Muara Karang Power Plant Pump Station to improve water flow," he added.

Moreover, he mentioned that his team has ensured the readiness of sub-polder pumps on Jalan Lodan Raya, RE Martadinata, and Jalan Gunung Sahari; deployed 16 mobile pumps in flood-prone areas; and prepared 5,000 sandbags for emergency response.

"We've mobilized around 500 Blue Troop personnel, equipped with floating pumps and other supporting tools. All teams are on standby to respond swiftly during the tidal flood period," he emphasized.

Wandi also urged residents in coastal areas to stay alert and regularly monitor official tide forecasts, and to report any flooding through government service channels.

Wandi also called on coastal residents to remain vigilant, stay updated through official tide forecasts, and promptly report any flooding through government channels.

"We'll continue to ensure all regional units, pump operators, and task force teams are on standby 24/7 to protect residents and minimize the impact of tidal flooding," he asserted.

On the other hand, Tanjung Priok Sub-district SDA Task Force Leader, Neti Heriati, added that in response to tidal flooding on Jalan RE Martadinata, her team had deployed two mobile pumps and one floating pump, along with nine personnel.

"All teams and equipment were already on standby on Jalan RE Martadinata. By midday, the flooding had receded, and traffic was back to normal," she shared.
