Joint Personnel Accelerate Tidal Flooding Handling on the Jakarta Coast

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD) recorded 18 RTs in Jakarta are flooded by tidal wave up to Thursday (12/4) at 4 PM.

are still being handled

This condition is triggered by the phenomenon of maximum sea water tides that coincide with the Full Moon and Perigee (Supermoon) phases, as conveyed by the BMKG Class I Maritime Meteorology Station Tanjung Priok in an early warning period of December 1–10, 2025. The combination of these phenomena increases the height of sea water tides, thus triggering inundation in coastal areas.

The most affected area is in the Seribu Islands Administrative Regency with a total of 13 RTs inundated.

In the Seribu Utara Islands, flooding occurred in 10 neighborhood units (RT) in the Harapan Island urban village, with water levels reaching 10 centimeters. Meanwhile, in the Seribu Selatan Islands, flooding occurred in three neighborhood units (RT) in the Pari Island urban village, with levels ranging from 10 to 20 centimeters.

"All of these locations are still being handled by personnel in the field," said Isnawa Adji, BPBD Chief, Thursday (12/4).

Moreover, five neighborhood units (RTs) in North Jakarta are also inundated. These included three RTs in Pluit Urban Village with water levels ranging from 10 to 40 centimeters, and two RTs in Marunda Urban Village with water levels reaching 10 centimeters.

Isnawa ensured that related parties including SDA Agency, Bina Marga Agency, and Fire Handling and Rescue Agency have been cooperated to handle the inundation and ensure water channels to function optimally.

"We continue to speed up handling so that the floodwaters can recede quickly," he added.

Isnawa also urged the public to remain vigilant for potential further flooding during this period of maximum tide. The agency has deployed personnel to monitor conditions in each area and ensure that survivors' basic needs are met.

"In case of emergency, immediately call 112. This service is free and ready to help 24 hours a day," he stated.
