GMNI Berkontribusi Aktif Menuju Transformasi Jakarta

Pramono Calls on GMNI Alumni to Support Jakarta's Transformation

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung invited the Indonesian National Student Movement (GMNI) Alumni to actively contribute to Jakarta's transformation into a global city.

"... that are valuable assets for shaping Jakarta's development,"

"GMNI alumni possess experience, networks, and intellectual capacity that are valuable assets for shaping Jakarta's development. Their critical thinking and commitment to grassroots values position them as strategic partners for the government in formulating more effective policies for the public," Pramono said while opening the 5th Regional Conference (Konferda V) of the GMNI Alumni Association (DPD PA GMNI) at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Saturday (13/12).

He noted that Jakarta's progress toward becoming a global city is beginning to show results, as the city climbed to 71st place among 156 cities worldwide. This achievement has been driven by the Jakarta Government's focus on tackling three major urban challenges: flooding, traffic congestion, and pollution.

"All of these accomplishments are the result of systematic work between the Jakarta Government and community elements. We aim to ensure that city development is inclusive and sustainable, and that every citizen has fair opportunities to grow, learn, and contribute to the advancement of Jakarta," he shared.

Pramono emphasized that GMNI has long played a strategic role in upholding nationalism and addressing poverty-related issues.

"I hope the new GMNI leadership continues to synergize with the Jakarta Government, particularly in efforts to reduce inequality and poverty in the city," he asserted.

He added that inequality remains a serious challenge in Jakarta, despite improvements in macro indicators such as economic growth, inflation, poverty, and unemployment.

"I believe many of Jakarta's current programs align with GMNI's persevering spirit. This collaboration is crucial to ensure that the city's development benefits all segments of society," he stated.
