Puluhan Truk Compactor Tertutup Baru Perkuat Operasional RDF Rorotan

Hundreds of Covered Compactor Trucks Strengthen Rorotan RDF Operations

Jakarta Environmental Agency strengthened the operational readiness of the Rorotan Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant by launching a closed compactor truck to transport waste to the Rorotan RDF facility, Tuesday (12/16).

entire fleet meets quality standards

Head of Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto said the readiness of the transportation system is the main foundation for the successful operation of RDF Plants. Waste management is not only about the facilities within the area, but also how the waste is transported from its source.

"Therefore, we ensure that the entire fleet meets quality standards so as not to cause new problems in the community," he said.

Currently, the Rorotan RDF Plant is equipped with 51 compactor trucks procured in the 2025 fiscal year, ready to transport waste from the RDF service area. This fleet complements the 97 compactor trucks procured in the 2024 fiscal year that were already operational.

It means, the total number of compactor trucks specially prepared to support RDF Rorotan operations reached 148 units in prime condition.

"All trucks operating to the Rorotan RDF are new vehicles with special specifications. We have prepared this fleet to operate stably and consistently to support the RDF facility," he added.

Asep explained that the waste transported comes from 16 districts in Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta. This supply area designation aims to shorten transportation distances, improve time and operational efficiency, and maintain a continuous supply of waste to the Rorotan RDF Plant.

"We've determined our transportation routes to ensure shorter and more efficient travel times. This ensures a consistent supply of waste to the RDF without burdening traffic or the surrounding environment," he explained.

The type of vehicle used is a compactor truck with a closed-bed system. This closed system is the main standard for transporting waste to the Rorotan RDF because it is designed to minimize odors during the journey and prevent waste from being scattered along the transportation route.

Moreover, the compactor fleet is equipped with a waste compaction system, increasing transport capacity and reducing the number of trips. Each vehicle is also equipped with a leachate tank to prevent waste leakage that could potentially pollute roads and the surrounding environment.

"With this feature, transportation becomes cleaner, more efficient and safer for the environment," he stated.
