Pramono Sebut Perayaan Tahun Baru di Jakarta Digelar Sederhana

New Year's Celebrations in Jakarta to Be Held Simply

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung said New Year's Eve celebrations in Jakarta will be held simply.

Jakarta is not in a state of excitement

The step is taken as a form of empathy and solidarity for the natural disasters that hit a number of areas in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.

"Jakarta is not in a state of excitement, luxury. I will do things related to prayer," said Pramono, Thursday (12/18).

However, New Year's Eve celebrations will still be held considering Jakarta's strategic position as the nation's capital and its global spotlight.

"There still has to be a New Year's celebration, because this is Jakarta, this is the nation's capital, and this is what the world sees," he added.

Despite its simplicity, New Year's celebrations are considered crucial for maintaining Jakarta's international image. He believes Jakarta must maintain an optimistic outlook as it welcomes the new year.

Pramono also confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government consistently sends aid to disaster-affected areas. However, this humanitarian assistance is provided without extensive publicity.

"We continue to do this continuously. Specifically, we are treating several cities or regents that have been severely impacted separately, sending them directly to the relevant cities/regents," he explained.
