Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung reviewed the construction progress of Ancol National Capital Integrated Coastal Development coastal protection embankment, Friday (12/19).

I ask this project to be continued

During the review, Pramono emphasized his commitment to completing the strategic project to address tidal flooding by 2029.

Jakarta Warns of Potential Tidal Flooding in 12 Coastal Areas

Pramono explained the construction of the 2.1 kilometer NCICD embankment in the West Ancol area has reached the final stage. According to the Head of Water Resources Agency's report, the physical stage in the area has reached 95.32 percent.

"This development started during my leadership era," he said.

Of the total 28.27 kilometers of the NCICD Phase A embankment, which is under the authority of the Jakarta Provincial Government, 11.82 kilometers have been constructed. This leaves 16.45 kilometers remaining to be completed.

"And I ask this project to be continued multi-yearly until 2029 so that it is truly completed," he added.

Pramono continued that completing this embankment is the main key to overcoming the problem of tidal flooding that has been plaguing coastal residents of Jakarta.

This project involves the division of authority between the Central Government (Ministry of Public Works), Pelindo, and the Jakarta Provincial Government, but Pramono instructed the Jakarta Provincial Government to focus on completing the parts that are the responsibility of the region.

"I ask that the responsibility of the Jakarta Government to be resolved. This will have an extraordinary impact on the people of Jakarta related to tidal flooding," he continued.

Moreover, Pramono also wants to make the embankment area an aesthetic public space and a tourist attraction for the local community.

Therefore, he instructed that beautification be carried out along the embankment area, including tree planting and landscaping to make it a suitable place for visitors.

"This place must attract people to come and enjoy the scenery," he stated.
