Deputy Jakarta Governor, Rano Karno said  this step is a form of support for post-disaster empowerment in Sumatra's floods and landslides.

"We've been sourcing chilies from Aceh since last Friday. Thankfully, the Governor also agreed to have a farming contract with the local area," he said, Monday (12/22).

Rano added that the quality of this Aceh chili is very good and is sold by Perumda Pasar Jaya at a lower price than the market.

"Thank God, so many people have bought it. Hopefully, this will help restore the economy of the Sumatran people affected by the disaster," he hoped.

Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan Widiyanto stated his side has followed up on Governor Pramono Anung's directive to purchase chilies directly from a number of farmers in Aceh, then marketed them to all outlets owned by Perumda Pasar Jaya.

"We sell to consumers at a lower price than the market price. For example, if the market price is between Rp 50,000 and Rp 60,000, we sell it for Rp 40,000 per kilogram," he explained.
