4,296 Satpol PP Personnel Ready to Secure Christmas and New Year in Jakarta

As many as 4,296 Jakarta Satpol PP personnel are deployed to secure the celebrations of Christmas and New Year.

Head of Jakarta Satpol PP said thousands of personnel will be deployed at various points that are centers of community activity, including tourist destinations in the capital.

"Some of the main locations for New Year's celebrations are at the HI Roundabout and the Sudirman-Thamrin area," he said, Tuesday (12/23).

He added that this year's New Year's celebrations will be less festive than in previous years. The Jakarta Provincial Government has issued a circular prohibiting fireworks displays as a form of empathy for residents affected by the disaster in Sumatra.

His side will also focus on security at tourist locations and entertainment venues which are expected to experience a surge in visitors during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"Our main focuses are Ragunan, Ancol, TMII, Monas, and so on ," he added.

Moreover, Satpol PP ranks will also assist in securing 574 churches during Christmas celebrations. Security will be carried out in an integrated manner, with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and other community organizations (ormas).

"For Christmas security, we deploy approximately 2,061 personnel, while on New Year's Eve, we deploy approximately 1,600 personnel. The total number of personnel is 4,296," he affirmed.
