Pramono Ensures Jakarta's Stability Amid Labor Protests

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung vowed on Monday to safeguard the capital’s security ahead of planned regional labor protests over the minimum wage (UMP) 2026.

We must maintain a stable and secure environment

Pramono ensured that the Jakarta administration would provide necessary services for the demonstrators while prioritizing public order.

"I understand the demonstrators are coming from outside the city, but since the protests are held in Jakarta, we must maintain a stable and secure environment. That is vital," he expressed, during an event at Monas, Central Jakarta, Monday (12/29).

Governor Assures 2026 Wage Hike for Jakarta

He noted that while labor groups are calling for raises, Jakarta still offers the highest minimum wage in the country.

"Jakarta’s UMP is the highest among all provinces," he asserted.

This wage was determined after a transparent and lengthy consultation process with stakeholders.

He confirmed, the city used an alpha of 0.75 for the calculation. Alongside the new wage, workers will benefit from several government incentives. These include free public transport, cheaper food, and subsidized water services.

"We are committed to providing non-wage support like free transit and affordable food to help our workers," he closed.
