He explained that intensive monitoring of TB patients is carried out to prevent the spread of this infectious disease which attacks the respiratory tract, especially the lungs.
"In addition to treatment, we also monitor TB patients by collaborating with drug supervisors so that patients undergo the treatment process until they are cured," he explained.
To break the chain of transmission, Sahruna continued, the West Jakarta Health Sub-agency is also conducting investigations through contact tracing of patients, especially household contacts and close contacts.
"In contact investigations, if the examination results show that household contacts or close contacts are in good health, then Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy (TPT) will be given for three or six months," he explained.
The sub-agency also continues to intensify socialization and education to the community regarding TB with related elements, both through indoor activities and directly in the community.
"This education aims to increase public awareness that TB is a contagious disease, but can be cured if treatment is carried out in a disciplined and complete manner," he stated.
