Life Returns to Normal in Cakung as Floods Subside

Residents in Cakung, East Jakarta, have returned to their normal activities today following a total recession of floodwaters. The flood, which started early Sunday morning, impacted several strategic points including Jalan Cakung Cilincing and the Era Mas 2000 housing complex.

Conditions have cleared

Cakung Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Unit Head, Dian Nur Cahyono confirmed that despite water reached a depth of 1.45 meters in Rawa Terate—triggered by the Cakung Drain's overflow—the situation is now fully under control.

"Conditions have cleared, and the areas are now dry," he expressed, Monday (1/19).

Floodwaters Recede Across Jakarta’s Major Arteries

To ensure a rapid recovery, he deployed three mobile pumps, five floating pumps, and a 20-man task force to the affected sites.

"This flood was triggered by prolonged, heavy rainfall," he explained.

Nurhasan, a Treasurer of RW 05 in Rawa Terate, noted that waters began to pull back around 8 PM on Sunday. By 11 PM, the area was reported fully receded.

He expressed his sincere appreciation for the team's on-the-spot response.

"Thankfully, the water cleared by last night. We hope for better weather today so we can stay high and dry," he added.
