East Jakarta Logs 61 Dengue Cases

East Jakarta has seen 61 dengue cases in the first 20 days of January.

Over 75—is at risk of contracting dengue

Local Health Sub-agency Head, Herwin Meifendy noted that despite the working-age population (20–44 years old) is currently the most affected, no deaths have occurred. He emphasized, the risk of infection spans all ages, from 1 to over 75 years old.

"Essentially, every age group—from infants to seniors over 75—is at risk of contracting dengue," he expressed, Thursday (1/22).

He explained that while patients are hospitalized for treatment, Community Health Center (Puskesmas) teams conduct on-site Epidemiological Investigations (PE).

"These investigations are vital to pinpoint the risk factors for local transmission," he added.

Besides fogging positive case areas, the agency is focusing on larvicide treatments and nest eradication.

"Residents are encouraged to seek immediate medical attention at health centers for anyone in their household experiencing feverish symptoms," he concluded.
