Pemprov DKI terapkan PJJ bagi seluruh sekolah di Jakarta

Extreme Weather: Jakarta Schools Switch to Remote Learning

In response to the extreme weather currently battering the capital, the Jakarta government, through the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik), has officially implemented Remote Learning (PJJ) for all schools in the city.

This step is a precautionary measure to prioritize the health and safety

The policy was formalized in a circular letter issued by Jakarta Education Agency Head, Nahdiana, Thursday (1/22). This move serves as a preemptive measure to safeguard the health and safety of students.

This directive follows the Jakarta City Secretary's Circular No. 2/2026 regarding flexible working arrangements for civil servants and takes into account the latest weather alerts from the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD).

"This step is a precautionary measure to prioritize the health and safety of our students, given the potential risks posed by extreme weather conditions," she stated, Friday (1/23).

Under the new directive, schools are required to implement remote learning for as long as extreme weather conditions persist.

School principals have been tasked with supervising and monitoring these virtual classes, as well as preparing backup learning plans in case of technical glitches.

Coordination with local and city-level Education Agencies is mandatory to ensure a smooth transition. Nahdiana also stressed the importance of intensive communication between schools and parents to ensure students' needs are fully met during this period.

"Coordination and communication with parents are vital to ensuring that learning remains effective, even without face-to-face classes," she explained.

This remote learning directive remains in effect until January 28, 2026, and will be further reviewed based on weather developments in the capital.

So, the Jakarta government urges all educational institutions to stay vigilant, monitor official updates, and put safety first in every activity.
