Six Cubic Meters of Flood Debris Cleared in Kramat Jati

The Kramat Jati Environmental Task Force in East Jakarta has cleared six cubic meters of debris left behind by flooding that occurred over the weekend.

To make sure the neighborhoods stay clean

All collected waste was transported to the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Management Facility in Bekasi, West Java.

Kramat Jati Sub-district Environmental Executing Unit Head, Dwi Firmansyah said, the debris originated from the Cawang and Balekambang urban villages, with personnel working from Sunday until Monday evening to haul it away.

According to him, Cawang accounted for two cubic meters of the total, while the remaining four cubic meters came from Balekambang.

"It aims to make sure the neighborhoods stay clean following the floods," he stated, Tuesday (1/27)

He added cleanup efforts in Cililitan are expected to get underway today. There are still about 5.2 cubic yards of debris to be hauled away, split between two local residential sectors.

"Then, specialized teams from Jakarta’s Water Body Waste Management Task Force are responsible for clearing waste caused by the overflowing Ciliwung River," he explained.

This action received appreciation from one of the residents from RW 05, Cawang Urban Village, Agung (49).

"Promptly addressing the waste is vital for public safety. We need to prevent accumulation in the community to avoid unpleasant smells and the potential spread of disease," he said.
