Joint Personnel Deployed to Handle Wall Collapse in Cakung Timur

Joint personnel moved swiftly to handle the collapse of a retaining wall measuring about 30 meters in length and around four meters high on Jalan Cempaka 1, RT 03/09, Cakung Timur Urban Village, Cakung Sub-district, East Jakarta.

"...we immediately cleared trash and some debris that was blocking the water channel,"

Head of the Cakung Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Unit, Dian Nur Cahyono, said the wall collapsed at around 7:30 AM, with debris falling into a drainage channel.

"We immediately carried out cleanup to prevent the debris from blocking the water flow, which could trigger flooding," Dian said on Wednesday (1/28).

Twelve Blue Troops personnel were deployed to handle the cleanup, which is expected to take up to three days.

"We are doing our best to ensure the water flow in the channel returns to normal,"he added.

Meanwhile, Cakung Timur Economic and Development Section Head, Andreas Dwi Mulyanto, said seven Orange Troops personnel were also deployed for the initial response.

"We assisted with the initial handling. Further work will be handed over to JGC as the area's developer, as heavy equipment is required," he noted.

Separately, Marzuki, a member of the Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling unit (PPSU) at Cakung Timur Urban Village, said he and his colleagues were cleaning trash at the Cakung Timur connecting channel when they discovered the wall had already collapsed.

"I saw that the retaining wall had fallen. At the initial stage, we immediately cleared trash and some debris that was blocking the water channel," he said.
