Be Careful, Hawkers Blackmail Passengers in Terminal

Ahead of Eid ul-Fitr, the level of criminality in Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta, is getting rampant. Therefore, passengers are urged to be aware. Including with the existence of hawkers who often blackmail passengers to buy their merchandises.

"All this time, there are many reports into the office, about the occurrence of blackmail towards passengers. Majority of perpetrators are the hawkers of glasses and snacks," said Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Andri Yansah, Tuesday (7/14). 

In their action, they force the passengers to buy their merchandise. It is done by putting the merchandise on passengers' lap. If they touch it then they have to buy. Ironically, they also set the price as they pleased.

"Please, report the case to officer if you see it," he asserted. 

Meanwhile, Head of Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Laudin Situmorang claimed entering D-2, the number of homecomers is still minimal if compared with last year. Whereas, the buses coming is quite much, thus many passengers queuing to be transported. 

"The peak of homecoming flow will happen on D-2 and D-1 or today and tomorrow. Backup tour buses will be prepared to anticipate passenger surge," explained Yansah.
