Ahead of Independence Day, hundreds of joint personnel from firefighters, Infrastructure and Public Facilities Handling (PPSU), PKK, Menteng Urban Village and Sub-District Apparatus, and RT and RW cleaned Proclamation Monument on Jalan Proklamasi, Central Jakarta, Friday (8/7).

The communal work was led directly by Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat accompanied with Central Jakarta Mayor, Mangara Pardede. Before the it began, Djarot lead the ceremony in the Proclamation Monument.

In his speech, Djarot asked all officers to manage, and beautify Proclamation Monument which has important historical value for Indonesian people.

"70 years ago, Bung Karno and Bung Hatta, and Indonesian people stood here to proclaim the independence of Indonesia. Most brief proclamation in the world was read here," told Djarot Friday (8/7).

Djarot also asked all historical ornament in the area to be managed and decorated with various attributes of independence such as red and white flags, pennants, banners and other attributes to greet the 70th Independence Day of Indonesia.

" I asked the pennants, flags, and other independence attributes including lamp must be installed on upcoming August 9 . Street vendors around Proclamation Monument also need to be controlled," he asked.

After ceremony, Djarot had the opportunity to spray water from the hose at fire truck to the ground floor of Proclamation Monument.

Central Jakarta Mayor, Mangara Pardede and Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Isnawa Adji directly brushed the floor after the spray.
