Jakarta Distributes Medical Equipment to Support Pilgrims

Starting this year, Jakarta Provincial Government is no longer allocate additional costs for Hajj because all pilgrims' needs have been covered by Religious Affairs Ministry (Kemenag).

I think the current Religion Minister has an excellent performance

"Everything has been optimized by Kemenag. They've sent Hajj cost to Mecca once and Medina twice, so I think the current Religion Minister has an excellent performance," told Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), after inaugurating officers who will accompany Hajj pilgrims from Jakarta, Thursday (8/13).

As a replacement, city administration will distribute full medical equipment to facilitate pilgrims. "Yes, we are not allowed to allocate budget," he told.

City Commits to Improve Hajj Services

As known, the elimination of transport and catering cost for all pilgrims from Jakarta had been erased since 2014 although the service for pilgrims had been provided since 2009. In 2011, besides giving transportation service by providing bus to pick up Hajj pilgrims, Jakarta Provincial Government also noticed the distribution of consumption or catering services.

Previously in Mecca, Hajj pilgrims from Jakarta received food twice a day and will be picked up by 18 buses, especially to give service for all Hajj pilgrims who live around 2-2.5 kilometers from Masjidil Haram.
