Water Channel Along Jalan Swasembada Dredged

A water channel along Jalan Swasembada, Kebon Bawang Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-District, North Jakarta, dredged. 

It is a follow-up of citizens' complaint

Relaying on beritajakarta.com’s data, as many as 15 Infrastructure and Public Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers were deployed to clean the channel as long as 200 meters and 1 meter wide from sediment and trash. 

Those are equipped with manual cleaning equipments, such as shovel, hoe, and also sickle to cut wild grasses along the channel. "It is a follow-up of citizens' complaint," said Head of Kebon Bawang Urban Village, Muhammad Mujakir, Sunday (9/13).

According to Mujakir, the water in the channel often spills out on the road when rain pours. "Surely, it can endanger road user, especially motorcyclist," he expressed. 

Not only that, the channel also spread rotten smell. "It should be cleaned before it cause diseases," he told. 

To transport trash, he sent 3 urban village's motorcycle carts to the scene. The trash then disposed to Waste Disposal Site (TPS) around urban village. "I hope local citizens also maintain the environment cleanliness, for mutual interest," he disclosed.
