Basuki Wants Ciliwung as Raw Water Source

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama wanted the Ciliwung River to be used as a raw water source in the capital city. Moreover, the river has never dried during dry season, but it must be normalized first to get hygiene water.

Despite dry season is long, yet the water in Ciliwung River is still flowing freely. That means this is certainly a blessing for us. But how to utilize the water well, we need normalization

According to Ahok, the river is a gift from God and must be maintained and preserved well. "That's why, the normalization is important. Considering this is a gift for us as Jakartans, instead of disaster," he expressed at City Hall, Friday (9/18).

He went on the say that during dry season, the city can remain utilize such river. "Katulampa Dam for instance, the water has run out. We want try it from Jatiluhur,” he uttered.

Hence, he furthered, Jakarta Provincial Government and central government are currently intensifying normalization and relocate people living along riverbank to the flat.

He also wants support from various parties to realize the normalization, including relocation plan.
