The case of dengue fever is apparently still haunting Jakarta residents, especially in South Jakarta. Over the past two months or since January 27-February 2014, there are found 527 cases in South Jakarta. From that number, the highest case of the dengue fever is dominated by Pasar Minggu Sub-District with 105 cases.

"The second highest case is followed by Jagakarsa with 84 cases, Cilandak with 57 cases, and Kebayoran Lama with 45 cases," said South Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Djoko Tri, on the sidelines of campaign against dengue fever (PSN) in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, Friday (/287).

According to Tri, dengue fever case is caused by an unhealthy environment. This is because floods have inundated several areas in South Jakarta. "This condition has caused inundation and mosquito larvaes, especially flood-prone areas," he expressed.

This is proven, because Pejaten Timur Urban Village which is one of the flood-prone areas in the January-February period became the highest case of dengue or reaching 28 cases, and followed by Pejaten Barat Urban Village with 22 cases.

"We`re still trying to solve it by providing a broader understanding of dengue fever in order to impose healthy lifestyle among people," he uttered.

Fogging step was already done in all areas that are prone to mosquito breeding sites. For the first cycle in January, his side had carried out 176 times fogging, and 175 times in the second cycle. While in the first cycle in February, fogging is done 120 times, and 118 times in the second cycle.

"Fogging is done after examination and research sources of mosquitoes. It`s focused on areas prone to mosquito breeding. Its prevention should be prioritized through 3M (drain, close, and bury) once a week. We close the chain of the mosquito breeding, because of its breeding takes over 10 days," he stated.

In PSN activity, South Jakarta Government also gave aid in form of money cash amounting to Rp 500 thousand to 44 fire victims who live at RT 08/06 Kebayoran Lama Utara.
