Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama expected the second boring rig for Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) could operate soon. The statement was conveyed after he reviewed MRT project along with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (10/8).

“ This will be amazing. We’ve to operate the first rig in advance and continued with second rig ,” he said at City Hall, Thursday (10/8).

At this time, his party has operated one rig or known as Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) since September 21 from Pemuda statue-Setiabudi. Ideally, the project needs 4 boring rig machines.

Ahok furthered the boring rig is still operated by Japanese technician. “After two months, the rig operational will be operated by our technicians,” he expressed.

The mechanism of boring rig machine is just like shaving beard. “It works like shaving beard, before it drilled, it foaming first then mixed with bentonex mineral to liquefy the land,” he explained.

The liquid or mineral will be mixed, then it transform into mud. Nevertheless, its water will be sucked out into dry land. “Then put it to mud the basin and sucked out the water after dried it will be carried,” he closed.
